FREE PATTERN - TIPPED FAN HAT

Very Quick! Very Easy! Tipped Fan hat is a fun hat that you can make in a DAY!


Don't you just love it when a crochet is done overnight. Some simple, something easy. All you need is a heavy weight yarn and a big crochet hook. Here we go!


MATERIAL & TOOLS


Any heavy worsted / aran weight, less than 50 gm. The pattern uses Malabrigo Worsted.


Hook Size: US H8/ 5 mm


Gauge: 16 st x 8 rows in dc for 4” / 10cm.


Notions: 1 Stitch marker


Finished Measurements: 20”, (22”, 24”)


TERMS & ABBREVIATIONS

Ch sp: chain space

Sc: single crochet

Dc: Double crochet

Dc2tog: *Yo hook, insert hook in st, pull up loop*, 3 loops on your hook. Yo and pull through 2 loops. Repeat * *, 4 loops in you hook. Yo and pull through 2 loops. 3 loops on hook. Yo and pull through 3 loops

Rep: Repeat

TIPPED FAN HAT PATTERN

RIBBING


Chain 16

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Turn. – 15 sc


Row 2: Ch1, working in back loop only, sc in each st across. Turn.


Rep Row 2: 54 (62, 70) times more. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Use the long tail to seam the short ends of the ribbing together.


BODY

Join yarn with sl st in edge of the ribbing at seam.

Round 1: Ch1, work 56 (64, 72) sc evenly spaced around edge of band. Join with sl st in top of sc. Refer to chart for rounds 2- 8 if required


Round 2: Ch3, dc in next st and all stitches of the round. Join with sl st in top of dc.


Round 3: Ch 5, (skp 3 sts, sc in next st, ch5) repeat till end, skp 3 st. Join with sl st to first ch.---14 (16, 18) ch5.


Round 4: Ch3, 2 dc in same st, ( sc in next ch-5, ch5, sc in next ch-5, 5dc in next sc) rep till last but one ch-5, sc in next ch-5, ch5, sc in next ch-5, 2dc in the same ch-5 as the initial ch3, Join with sl st to 3rd chain of ch-3.


Round 5: ch1, sc in same st, (5dc in next sc, sc in center of ch-5, ch5, sc in 3rd st of 5dc) repeat till last 5dc, 5dc in next sc, sc in center of ch-5, ch5. Join with sl st to the first sc.


Round 6: Sl St to 3rd dc, ch1, sc in same st, (5dc in next sc, sc in center of ch-5, ch5, sc in 3rd st of 5dc) repeat till last 5dc, 5dc in next sc, sc in center of ch-5, ch5. Join with sl st to the first sc.


Round 7: Sl st to 3rd dc, ch5, ( sc in center of ch-5, ch5, sc in center of 5dc, ch5) repeat till end. Join with sl st to the 3rd sl st. 14 (16, 18) ch-5.


Round 8: Ch3, (3 dc in ch5, dc in sc) repeat till end. Join with sl st to the top of ch-3. – 56 (64, 72)


Round 9: Ch3, dc in each dc till the end. Join with sl st to top of 3rd chain.


CROWN DECREASES

Round 10: Ch3, dc in 5 dc, dc2tog, (dc in next 6 dc, dc2tog) repeat till end. Join with sl st to 3rd ch. 49 (56, 63) st


Round 11: Ch3, dc in 4 dc, dc2tog, (dc in next 5 dc, dc2tog) repeat till end Join with sl st to 3rd ch. 42 (48, 54) st


Round 12: Ch3, dc in 3 dc, dc2tog, (dc in next 4 dc, dc2tog) repeat till end Join with sl st to 3rd ch. 35 (40, 45) st


Round 13: Ch3, dc in 2 dc, dc2tog, (dc in next 3 dc, dc2tog) repeat till end Join with sl st to 3rd ch. 28 (32, 36) st


Round 14: Ch3, dc in dc, dc2tog, (dc in next 2 dc, dc2tog) repeat till end Join with sl st to 3rd ch. 21 (24, 27) st


Round 15: Ch3, dc2tog, (dc in dc, dc2tog) repeat till end Join with sl st to 3rd chain. 14(16, 18) st


Round 16: Ch3, dc2tog till last st, dc in last st. Join with sl st to 3rd chain. 7 (8, 9) st


Cut yarn with a long tail. With a tapestry needle, weave through the top of the 7 (8, 9) dc and pull such as to close the top. Weave in the end.
