FREE PATTERN - SPECKLED WINGS SHAWLETTE

A beautiful two coloured shawlette with ruffled edge. It uses the simplest of stitches with smart short rows that give it the curved shape






MATERIAL & TOOLS


Dubai Knits Luna(100%  merino; 400 yards [366 meters]/ 100 grams): (MC), 1 skein, Madelinetosh Tosh Merino light(100% merino; 420 yards [384 meters]/ 100 grams ): Oceana (CC), 1 skein


Hook Size: 3.5mm / US D


Gauge: 25 rows x 20 sts = 4” [10cm] in sc after blocking


Notions: 1 Stitch marker


Finished Measurements: 49” x 15.5” (124x 40 cm)

Sc: Single crochet

Dc: Double crochet

Sl st: Slipped stitch

Ch: Chain

Sc2tog:  Single crochet 2 together

Rev sc: Reverse sc / crab stitch

NOTES

1. The pattern is written using US Terminology





You start at the lowest point of the solid section and work your way up using very simple short rows. The ruffles are added at the end.


SPECKLED WINGS PATTERN

Main body

Chain 302

Row 1: Sc in the second stitch and all chains until the end. Place marker (M) on 151st st. Turn (301 sts)


Row 2: Ch1, sc until 3 sts after M, sc2tog, sl st in next st (move marker up with each row). Turn.


Row 3: Ch1, sk the sl st, sc until 3 sts past M, sc2tog, sl st in next st. Turn.


Row 4: Ch1, sk the sl st, sc until you reach to sc2tog, sc2tog using the same sc used for ch 1 in earlier row and the next sc, sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, sl st in next st. Turn.


Rep Row 4 until all the 301 sts have been worked. Turn.


Next row: Sc along the top edge to keep the top edge neat. Cut yarn.


Join CC with sl st, rev sc along the top edge only. Cut yarn.


Ruffled Edging

Row 1: Join with CC at upper left end with sl st (you’ll have the CC you just worked to your right), sc in the edge sts and in each sc until the other end. Turn.


Row 2: Ch3 (Count as dc), dc in same st, *dc in next st, 2dc in next st, rep from * until the end. Turn.

Rep row 2, 2 more times. Cut yarn.


Finishing

Weave in ends and block the shawl for a lovely finish.
